The Grounding Garden · Obsidian · Clear Quartz · Driftwood

A black volcanic shore, one bright stone, and a curl of weathered wood rising like a wave. Glassy obsidian chips fill a matte black pedestal cup, and a single raw clear quartz catches the light like a star over a lava field. Obsidian Night is a landscape of contrasts — dark, glossy and calm.

The energy

Grounded, steady, clear. Obsidian has long been associated with grounding and protection; clear quartz with clarity. Together they make a desk companion for deep-focus days — a cue to plant your feet, choose one thing and do it well.

  • Obsidian — Natural volcanic glass, formed when lava cools too quickly to crystallize. Polished obsidian once served as a mirror — one, owned by the Elizabethan scholar John Dee, is now in the British Museum. In crystal lore, it is a stone of grounding and protection.
  • Clear quartz — Known in crystal lore as the ‘master stone’, long associated with clarity and with amplifying whatever intention you set beside it. The ancient Greeks called it krystallos — ‘ice’ — believing it was water frozen so deeply it could never thaw.
  • Driftwood — Shaped by water, wind and time, weathered wood has become a natural symbol of resilience — still standing, beautifully changed.

Inside your garden

  • Raw clear quartz, approx. 4–5 cm
  • Obsidian chips, approx. 400 g
  • One piece of weathered driftwood — no two alike
  • Dried florals & greenery
  • Matte black ceramic pedestal cup

How to live with it

Where it shines: A home-office desk, a bookshelf or a console by the door. All-black and glossy, it suits modern, minimal and moody rooms alike.

A two-minute focus ritual: Before a hard task, run your fingertips over the obsidian chips, name the one thing that matters most today, and set your phone face-down beside the cup until it is done.

Size & weight

Pedestal cup approx. 13 cm (5.1 in) across the rim and 8 cm (3.1 in) tall; overall height varies with the driftwood. Total weight approx. 850–900 g.

Care

  • Keep indoors and dry; dust gently with a soft, dry brush or a puff of air.
  • Keep out of strong, direct sunlight to protect the colors of the stones and botanicals.
  • Contains small parts and natural stones — not a toy. Keep away from young children and pets.
  • The wood and dried botanicals are natural materials — keep them away from water and heat.

A gift with meaning

For graduates, new jobs and first apartments — or anyone who works best with a clear desk and a steady mind. In modern crystal lore, obsidian is often paired with Scorpio and Sagittarius.

One of a kind, by nature: every crystal is genuine natural stone, and every piece of driftwood is shaped by nature alone — the exact shade, veining and silhouette of yours will be beautifully, unrepeatably its own. Arranged by hand in Donghai, China’s crystal capital. Crystal meanings reflect folklore and tradition — we share them as symbolism, not promises.
