The Welcome Lamp · Orange Salt Stone · Smoke-Grey Glass

The color of a fire that has burned down to embers. Hearthglow fills a heavy smoke-grey glass with chunks of orange salt stone and sets it on a solid-wood base; switch it on and the salt lights from within, amber at the core and rosy at the edges. Add a few drops of fragrance oil and the stones carry the scent — no flame, no water, nothing to watch.

The energy

Warmth, welcome, a home that feels like one. Salt is one of the oldest symbols of hospitality there is, and a glowing salt lamp has become modern shorthand for a cozy room. Hearthglow is a small, warm light for the moment you come home and close the door.

  • Orange salt stone — Natural rock salt. Across Eastern Europe and beyond, guests and new neighbors are still welcomed with bread and salt — salt has long been a symbol of hospitality, protection and plenty.
  • Salt by lamplight — Lit from below, rock salt gives off the warm, ember-colored glow that made salt lamps a modern favorite for reading corners and bedside tables.

How it works

  1. Fill the smoke-grey glass with the stones and set it on the wooden base.
  2. Add 3–5 drops of fragrance oil to the top stones.
  3. Turn on the light and choose a tone — cool white, warm or neutral — and a brightness.
  4. The stones hold the oil and release the scent slowly as it evaporates: no flame, no water, no mist to refill. Add a drop or two whenever it fades.

Good to know: this is a gentle, close-range scent for a nightstand, desk or shelf — think of it as a glowing scent stone rather than a room-filling diffuser.

Choose your base

  • Rechargeable — A touch button on the side of the base switches between three tones of light and adjusts brightness. Charge it over USB, then use it cord-free — the workshop measured about 12 hours of cool or warm light per charge (6–7 hours in neutral) at 80% brightness.
  • USB plug-in — The same solid-wood base with an inline switch on its cable for on/off, tone and brightness. It runs from any USB port or 5 V adapter, so there is nothing to recharge.

Inside the box

  • Orange salt stone, approx. 400 g, in 2–3 cm (0.8–1.2 in) pieces
  • Smoke-grey glass vessel, approx. 7.5 cm across × 8.5 cm tall (3 × 3.3 in) — a few lifestyle photos show a clear glass; the set ships with smoke-grey
  • Solid-wood light base, approx. 8 cm × 2 cm (3.1 × 0.8 in), 5 V — rechargeable or USB plug-in, your choice above
  • One 10 ml (0.33 fl oz) bottle of fragrance oil — the scent is chosen at random by the workshop

How to live with it

Where it shines: An entryway console, a bookshelf or a nightstand — anywhere you want the first or last light of the day. Keep it away from steamy bathrooms and kitchens; salt dislikes humidity.

A welcome-home ritual: When you walk in, switch the base to warm light and add two drops of oil to the top stones. Let the glow mark the line between out there and home.

Size & weight

About 8 cm wide × 10 cm tall (3.1 × 3.9 in) on its base; the top stones may sit just above the rim. Stones approx. 400 g (14 oz) in total; the whole lamp weighs roughly 0.7–0.8 kg.

Care & safety

  • Fragrance oil is for scenting the stones only — never apply it to skin or swallow it. Wipe up drips promptly; oil can mark wood and painted surfaces.
  • Keep the lamp, stones and oil out of reach of children and pets. Some fragrance oils can be harmful to pets, especially cats — air the room and keep the lamp where pets can’t reach it.
  • Add oil to the top stones only and keep the wooden base dry and oil-free.
  • Use a standard 5 V USB adapter. Unplug the rechargeable base once it is full, and don’t charge it on bedding or near heat.
  • Contains small stones — not a toy.
  • Salt stone is natural rock salt: it dissolves in water and can bead with moisture in humid rooms. Never rinse it — wipe it with a dry cloth, and keep the lamp out of bathrooms and steamy kitchens.

A gift with meaning

A housewarming gift with roots: new homes have been welcomed with bread and salt for generations. Add a small loaf and a card and you have carried on the tradition.

One of a kind, by nature: every stone is genuine and sorted by hand, so the exact shade, clarity and shape of yours will be its own. Assembled in Donghai, China’s crystal capital. Crystal meanings reflect folklore and tradition — we share them as symbolism, not promises.
