The Bold Garden · Black Tourmaline · Bismuth · Peridot

Black peaks over a field of gold. Two raw black tourmalines stand among iridescent rainbow ore, brassy chalcopyrite and a stair-stepped bismuth crystal, on a bed of green peridot chips with tall green sprigs — in a mirror-bright metallic-glazed cup.

The energy

Protection, with a little swagger. Black tourmaline is long associated with protection and boundaries; metallic ores like chalcopyrite with drive and prosperity in crystal lore; and peridot with renewal. Black, gold and green: a garden for ambitious desks.

  • Black tourmaline — Also called schorl, it grows in long, finely striated prisms; its name traces back to the Sinhalese word turmali. In crystal lore it is the go-to stone of protection and steady boundaries — traditionally kept by the front door.
  • Bismuth (lab-grown) — Grown from molten bismuth metal: as it cools, it builds stair-stepped ‘hopper’ crystals, and a whisper-thin oxide layer paints them in rainbow color.
  • Chalcopyrite & rainbow ore — Brassy copper-iron minerals whose surfaces shimmer with blue, violet and gold. In crystal lore, metallic ores are associated with drive, ambition and prosperity.
  • Peridot chips — August’s birthstone — the Egyptians’ ‘gem of the sun’ — long associated with renewal.

How to live with it

Where it shines: A home-office desk, a bookshelf or a reception counter.

A Monday ritual: Before the week begins, touch the tourmaline and name what you will not take on; then touch the bismuth and name what you are going after.

Size & weight

Cup approx. 10 × 8 cm (3.9 × 3.1 in). Total weight approx. 700–750 g.

Care

  • Keep indoors and dry; dust gently with a soft, dry brush or a puff of air.
  • Keep out of strong, direct sunlight to protect the colors of the stones and botanicals.
  • Contains small parts and natural stones — not a toy. Keep away from young children and pets.
  • Metallic minerals (bismuth, chalcopyrite, rainbow ore) can slowly tarnish — keep the garden dry and handle with dry hands.

A gift with meaning

For founders, freelancers, new managers and Capricorn birthdays — and anyone who likes their decor bold.

One of a kind, by nature: every natural stone in this garden is genuine — the exact shade, veining and sparkle of yours will be beautifully, unrepeatably its own. (The bismuth crystal is lab-grown, as display bismuth almost always is.) Arranged by hand in Donghai, China’s crystal capital. Crystal meanings reflect folklore and tradition — we share them as symbolism, not promises.
